Not telling you anything new, but website design is a complicated business. It’s not just a matter of dragging and dropping components (“Oh golly, if only it were!”).
You can help us design your site by indicating what you want it to look like – before we even consider content. Your design input is essential. We can’t build it, if you don’t know what you want.
Together, we will work out layout and color schemes and design and features. We know that the design process works best when you are an active design participant.
Our websites can be purposefully optimised for search engines right from the start of construction. A well designed website that has been optimised will always out-perform flashy, glitzy sites. Ironically (and sadly) many businesses think that the look of the site is more important than the content. While we agree that image is important, it shouldn’t be at the expense of function. Good website design is about making the website perform.
Our sites
Web-works builds sites from the ground up, from templates, or using our preferred option, via a content management system (CMS) called WordPress.
CMS sites provide greater control, security and a wider range of templates to choose from.
Web-works does not construct sites with Drupal or Joomla as (in our experience) they are a nightmare for administration and are best suited to the big players with dedicated IT staff. They also make our heads hurt.
We do build Wix and other CMS sites.
Costs
Obviously, template sites are cheaper, as they involve much less design time than building a site from scratch.
Prices are dependent on what you want and obviously, the more complicated that your site is, the more time it takes and the more it will cost you.
Premium and rich feature plugins are an additional cost that you need to be aware of. Web-works will explain all of these costs in advance. (No nasty surprises here). A plain site, with no bells and whistles is obviously going to be cheaper than a site full of fancy galleries and interactive features and functions.
You simply give us some ideas about what you want your site to look like and we will give you a quote. If you decide to proceed, we can then put together some samples for you to look at.
